My questions to Mr Verhagen

Mr Maxime Verhagen, the Netherlands Foreign Minister, said: “I am deeply disappointed that Turkey has not yet complied with the Ankara Protocol. Turkish ports have still not been opened to Cypriot ships, and Turkish airports remain closed to Cypriot aircraft”

I have a few questions to Mr Verhagen. One of them is why he did use a word like comply to tell his disappointed!! There is more appropriate words that comply such as accept or come to an agreement etc. In my opinion, “to come to an agreement on something” is a very proper word in terms of describing an agreement on a protocol. I really don’t understand why he chose a word like that. I don’t want to have prejudice about his words, but his statement is making me think.

The another question is that why the situations of Turkey ports have been closed to Cypriot ships and Turkish airports remain closed to Cyriot aircraft have made him feel disappointed. Why?? When The European Union discriminate against Turkey and also discriminate favor of Greek Cypriot, why don’t he feel disappointed. In the same speech, he says “We are strick and fair”. I really wonder if the fairness corresponds to his behaviour towards Turkey and the EU’s attitude towards Turkey.

He continues to give his speech: “This is the appropriate time to punish Turkey with additional sanctions, but this would be a miscalculation. Turkey is a steadfast partner in NATO, Afghanistan and Bosnia. We cannot afford to have Turkey turn its back on us and cultivate closer ties with countries like Iran or other radical forces,

My last question is that There is an end of his and the EU’s sanctions over Turkey. Do not the fairness in that he believes say that he should stop to have prejudice about Turkey??

In the case of other radical forces, he considers Turkey as a steadfast partner, but if it is a matter of an issue of The European Union, he considers Turkey as a privileged partner. Is this the fairness, Mr Verhagen??? You had called it like that “we are strict and fair”. I know you are strict, but you are not fair at all.

See you next time ;)
