Revolutionary Road

I don’t like the movies which has a tragical end. Revolutionary Road is one of these films I mentioned. These kind of films make me put down, feel so bad. Also I’m deeply moved by them.

In fact, I found it good and it’s also wonderful stroy. I loved the stroy of it. I liked April. At the beginning of the film, I also liked Frank, but He made me feel so disappointed. I don’t understand why he ignored the feelings of April, his wife. They fist made a plan of moving to Paris with their two kids. Then he changed his mind. I really don’t undestand why?? She was his wife. Why didn’t he keep his promise he had given his wife? How couldn’t he realize that he had ruined his wife’s feelings and life, of course? I don’t understand how he can’t know what a wife means to him.

“You are so bad man, Frank. I didn’t like you at all. I was hoping you to make the plan of moving to Paris to live come true. You had first made a decision with your wife, April, but then you ignored the decision.”

Now I feel myself so bad. I seem to hear that you say “Don’t be silly. This is just a film. April is a film character as well. April has passed away in the film, but Kate is alive.” You are right. I know all of them, but after all, whenever I watch a film with the ends like that, I start feeling myself so bad. So that’s why I don’t like this kind of films.

Whenever I tend to buy a emotional film, you know, that it is told about relotions between married couples or single couples, I firstly ask if it has a gloomy and tragical end. If so, I never get it. Before I bought the DVD of that film, I had no opinion about the film. The person who sold the film to me had told me that it was not a film like I had told, but now I can see that it was not so at all.

To sum up, I wish April wouldn’t have died at the end of the film. I’m happy that Kate is alive, but I feel so bad, because April’s feelings and emotions have been devastated. She had not deserved it.

I watched the scenes deleted and aslo interviews with Kate, Leonardo and Sam, of course. Sam Mendes, the director of the film. I’m so impressed by his a few words about the stroy of the film. He says “ …And I think that’s why it’s a universal story at the end of the day, is because it’s saying, you don’t have to accept the life you have if you’re not happy, there are ways of changing it. You just have to be brave”

I think Sam’s words are not the words in the text of a film. All of them are true and All comes from the scene of a real life.

See you ;)

My questions to Mr Verhagen

Mr Maxime Verhagen, the Netherlands Foreign Minister, said: “I am deeply disappointed that Turkey has not yet complied with the Ankara Protocol. Turkish ports have still not been opened to Cypriot ships, and Turkish airports remain closed to Cypriot aircraft”

I have a few questions to Mr Verhagen. One of them is why he did use a word like comply to tell his disappointed!! There is more appropriate words that comply such as accept or come to an agreement etc. In my opinion, “to come to an agreement on something” is a very proper word in terms of describing an agreement on a protocol. I really don’t understand why he chose a word like that. I don’t want to have prejudice about his words, but his statement is making me think.

The another question is that why the situations of Turkey ports have been closed to Cypriot ships and Turkish airports remain closed to Cyriot aircraft have made him feel disappointed. Why?? When The European Union discriminate against Turkey and also discriminate favor of Greek Cypriot, why don’t he feel disappointed. In the same speech, he says “We are strick and fair”. I really wonder if the fairness corresponds to his behaviour towards Turkey and the EU’s attitude towards Turkey.

He continues to give his speech: “This is the appropriate time to punish Turkey with additional sanctions, but this would be a miscalculation. Turkey is a steadfast partner in NATO, Afghanistan and Bosnia. We cannot afford to have Turkey turn its back on us and cultivate closer ties with countries like Iran or other radical forces,

My last question is that There is an end of his and the EU’s sanctions over Turkey. Do not the fairness in that he believes say that he should stop to have prejudice about Turkey??

In the case of other radical forces, he considers Turkey as a steadfast partner, but if it is a matter of an issue of The European Union, he considers Turkey as a privileged partner. Is this the fairness, Mr Verhagen??? You had called it like that “we are strict and fair”. I know you are strict, but you are not fair at all.

See you next time ;)

Swine Flu in Turkey

Until a very short time ago, in Turkey, there was a serious disagreement between the Prime Minister and the Health Minister over swine flu vaccination. When the PM was asked about whether he was going to be vaccinated or not, he was making a statement of that he was going not to be vaccinated. Yet, contrary to the PM’s statements, the Health Minister was persistently declaring that there were many people who have died from swine flu and it was being expected the deaths to increase and people have to be vaccinated.
People were getting more and more confused. Every day an explanation about the number of deaths was coming from the Ministry of Health, but we were not sure whether it was true or not. By the way, the Health Minister said that about two billion vaccine had been imported.

Personally, I don’t think that it’s true and I’m not sure why the Health Minister was making people get confused. To be honest, I have never thought to be vaccinated. A few doctors in Turkey had been interviewed and they had said that the normal flu virus was more dangerous than swine flu virus. This made me get confused. Because we could not see any people died from swine flu in our neighbourhood. We were just watching it from tv and a few Turk doctors had said that it was not dangerous and we can protect ourselves against swine flu by taking some precautions. You know, there is an economic crises outside and when swine flu came up, the vaccine of it was already ready. This had made me think. This was so interesting to me

Now, I’m reading the news from the newspaper and the internet. There are lots of the statements which doctors all over the world has revealed. According to these statements, swine flu is not dangerous at all.

I really don’t understand how the Health Minister cannot know this truth. He is a doctor. He is among many doctors all the time and a few doctors from his colleagues have made a statement about what swine flu is and it is also not dangerous.

Nowadays, you cannot see any news about swine flu on the media as if swine flu gets evaporated. I hope it is not condensed and it does not come down to the ground again :)

bye ;)

Raise your awareness of recycling

Sadly, in Turkey, people’s awareness of recycling is not enough. It’s very hard to see any recycling box anywhere. For example; I live in istanbul. I don’t throw any waste papers at home away into the waste bin. I pile them up at a corner of my room. Afterwards, I take them to the office of the firm in which I work and I throw all of them into the recycling box that Municipality gave the firm. I can’t find a public recycling box in the street in Istanbul to throw the waste papers. It may be a chance for you to find a public recycling box outside in İstanbul, but when you are the next to the recycling box, you easily notice that the recycling box is full of rubbishes such as cigarettes, cans, plastics, etc instead of waste papers or waste materials. So it is very good opportunity that Municipality has given for me to utilize my waste papers. I’m so happy, Because I know that by using recycling box, I can
protect trees,
prevent green fields from destroying,
reduce electricity consumption,
reduce carbon dioxide emisions,
save our water resources,
save our environment,
reduce pollution,
I don’t expect the Government or Local Municipality to do all of these on behalf of me or
raise my awareness of why we should use recycling boxes and how important recycling is. Because this is my own duty as a citizen or a inhabitant who lives in Istanbul.
I’m really not able to understand why people in Istanbul throw rubbishes into that special boxes even though there is a written warning in big letters “only for waste papers”.
“If you don’t have any intention to raise your awareness of environment, please don’t be in the way as an obstacle towards people willing to save our environment and the planet of course.”
( I hope they might hear me :):) )
When we sociologically consider this issue on behalf of Istanbul, we come face to face with waste paper workers. In my opinion, they are environment engineers in society. They are collect waste materials from the waste containers to take them for recycling. I know these waste paper employees work freelance to make money. After all, to my mind, when the issues about recycling I said above are considered, these people’s job means a lot of things to me. In fact, there are a lot of things that I want to explain for people living in Istanbul, but I’m afraid my energy is not enough to express all of them here :)

To sum up, recycling is very important for our live. It is also crucial for our environment and planet. I hope people do something that will raise their awareness of recyling and make them stand up for recycling all the time.

See you next time ;)
