Various historical sources indicate that macaroni was used in the Ancient Rome, Arabian and Chinese civilizations. In the excavations made in "Cerveteri" near Rome, devices that were used in making macaroni belonging to the Ancient Rome period were found. It is thought that the Lasagna type macaroni, called "lagana" by the Romans belongs to this period. Apicio, who lives in the 1st century after Christ, mentions of Lagana in his work of art named "De re coquinaria".
- There are more sources related with macaroni in the Arabian civilizations. We learn from the works of the Arabic historians that macaroni was transported with caravans and vessels in the 10th century and by great conquests, macaroni was introduced to various nationalities for the first time by this way.
- In the Chinese civilizations, the use of macaroni has an older history. It is known that macaroni was consumed in China in the 1700s before Christ. It is known that explorer Marco Polo has brought with him the macaroni type called "Spaghetti" in 1292 after the voyage he made to China.
- As a result, we see that macaroni is used in many civilizations and is produced in different types. We can say that macaroni has developed in the course of time and modern macaroni types are made with the use of technology.
